Bloomsday Festival 2016

The Bloomsday festivities will commence on Saturday, June 11 with ‘Theatre at the Tower’. Caitríona Ní Threasaigh will play Molly Bloom in a performance of the penultimate episode of Ulysses, ‘Penelope’. There will be two shows at 2pm and 4pm and admission is free. Sunday, June 12th is music day with tenor Simon Heapes singing Joyce at 12.30pm.

On Monday 13th and Tuesday 14th, Friends of Joyce Tower Society guides will be giving free tours in costume all day. Friends of Joyce Tower members will host a musical afternoon from 2pm on Wednesday 15th June.

On Bloomsday, Thursday 16th June, the Tower will be open from 8am. Owen Roe will read from Ulysses at 9am. A world premiere of the tower scene of Ulysses as opera will take place at 10am. There will also be a performance of ‘Washerwomen’ from Finnegans Wake at 11am until 2pm.
