Portrait photo of Paul Ruggiero, 1920

Paul Ruggiero, an employee in a Zurich bank, became a friend and pupil of James Joyce. They shared a love of music and of the Greek language, which Ruggiero spoke fluently while Joyce had picked up a smattering. Ruggiero helped make the arrangements with the authorities for Joyce’s return to Zurich in 1940. Given by Paul Ruggiero, 1966.
