Poetry Stroll

Poetry Stroll

The Poetry Stroll is a guided walking tour that brings history and literary landmarks to life through music, poetry, and storytelling. At the James Joyce Tower Museum in Sandycove, we encounter Joyce through the lenses of song, friendship, and artistic ambition.

Beginning at the top of the tower, where the famous opening scene of Ulysses is set, we explore the building and its remarkable collection of objects and artefacts. Along the way, the walk draws on anecdotes recorded by Oliver St. John Gogarty, the model for Buck Mulligan in Ulysses, and considers Joyce’s artistic aspirations and the material he was working on during his time in Sandycove such as the poems collected in his first ever publication Chamber Music.

The Poetry Strolls are organised and hosted by singer-songwriter Remco Jacobs (a.k.a. Lotus Eater), who also leads Poetry Strolls in the city centre from another iconic Joycean landmark, Sweny’s Pharmacy.
