“The Tower” by Joe Joyce read by Declan Gorman and Gerald Lee | Saturday 9 September | 17:00 – 18:30 | Joyce Tower | €10

The Tower is a one act play about James Joyce and Oliver St John Gogarty who were close friends in Dublin in the months before Joyce went into exile and were thereafter lifetime enemies. “The Tower” imagines them meeting again now in the Sandycove Martello Tower where they stayed briefly. The play has them discussing their relationship, art and posthumous reputations and has been critically acclaimed as well as popular with audiences.

The performance will be followed by a discussion led by Gogarty expert, Graham Hopkins with Des Gunning and Brian Trench, the great nephew of Diarmuid Trench. The discussion will be moderated by Gerry Farrell and recorded for the Bohemian History podcast.
