A visit from Defense Forces Veterans
Sep 4, 2017
It was a great pleasure for us to welcome a group of veterans from the Irish Defence Forces (Óglaigh na hÉireann) who visited the James Joyce Tower & Museum
recently. The trip was organised by the 2nd Infantry Battalion Association. The veterans, many of whom have served as UN peacekeepers in the Congo or the Lebanon, arrived beautifully turned out in their veteran uniforms proudly sporting their service medals which were greatly admired by other visitors to the tower on the day. These men have brought great honour to this country with their service abroad and it was a very special honour for us to guide them around our tower – it was also great fun as they cracked jokes and fully engaged in the experience.
