Painting of 7 Eccles Street by Flora Mitchell

Bloom’s house in Ulysses was in reality the residence of Joyce’s friend J.F. Byrne. It was demolished in 1967 and the front door was preserved in the Bailey in Duke Street. A plaque outside the Mater Private Hospital now marks the spot. Lent by John Ryan.
