Stephen Hero by James Joyce, first edition, Jonathan Cape 1944

Joyce began his first novel on his twenty-second birthday in 1904 and wrote twenty-five chapters (the last ten of which survive) before giving it up and rewriting it entirely as A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man. Acquired by ERTO.
