Colour photo portrait of Lucia Joyce, 1979

Joyce’s daughter Lucia (1907 - 1982) was a talented artist and dancer. She suffered from schizophrenia, which became apparent in her mid-twenties and caused her father much distress. In 1936 she was committed to a sanatorium and remained institutionalised for the rest of her life. Given by Jane Lidderdale for Lucia Joyce, 1980.
