Tie owned by James Joyce and given to Samuel Beckett

This tie was donated by Samuel Beckett on the occasion of the opening of the extension to the Museum, 1979. The enclosed card reads

“”My best wishes for an auspicious inauguration of the new building. Long may it stand and inspire. The enclosed tie was given to me by Joyce in 1929 or 1930, from his large store of ties. Perhaps it once went with the waistcoat / With all good wishes / Yours sincerely / Samuel Beckett”
